The Story

I found the Hijet box truck on Facebook Marketplace for $4,500. The previous owner used it for deliveries, so it had low miles and a solid box. I spent about $2,000 on the conversion — custom cedar shelving, LED strip lights powered by a small solar panel, and a fold-down counter on one side. I drive it to farmers markets, school events, and neighborhoods without nearby libraries. Kids go absolutely nuts for it. The tiny size means I can park anywhere, and the 40mpg means the fuel cost is negligible. Best $6,500 I've ever spent.
